Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Renamed as Andover Community Power (ACP)
Great news! At the Annual Town Meeting held on September 12, 2020, Andover voters overwhelmingly approved moving forward with Community Choice Aggregation! The town has assembled a design team and developed a plan for the program, which is called Andover Community Power.
Andover Community Power (ACP) will provide residents and businesses with new, town-vetted options for electricity supply. The program will leverage strategic purchasing, combined with the bulk purchasing power of thousands of Andover households and businesses, to procure the new supply options. National Grid will continue to repair outages and manage all the billing. Participants can leave the program at any time without fee or penalty and return to Basic Service.
Before the program begins, a comprehensive outreach campaign will be conducted by the Town, as outlined in the program plan. Read the plan and follow the program developments on the dedicated program website: acp.andoverma.gov.
Green Energy Consumers Alliance - a local non profit organization that enables consumers to move away from fossil fuels - has published a Green Municipal Aggregation Report about programs like this. The report includes background materials on these programs and discussion on innovation.
