A balanced noon meal is available at the center Monday through Friday
at Noon. Reservations must be made a day in advance. Meals on Wheels are

Cooking classes, the brown bag lunch series and special events are also held on
an ongoing basis.
Information and referral, answers to questions regarding health insurance, transportation options and housing, individual counseling as well as access to Meals on Wheels are just a few of the social services available at the Center. Support Groups for Stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's meet regularly at the center. Family members may obtain information and support to assist them in caring for an aging parent or relative. The Outreach Coordinator can schedule a home visit if individuals are not able to come into the Senior Center.
Eligible elders may have their real estate taxes reduced by $1,000
after completing 100 hours of service to the community through a
municipal or school department.
The Social Day Program offers a supportive environment for adults facing life changes, enabling them to live at home and to remain active within a community setting. A registered nurse and other caring professional staff work with families and other health care professionals to meet the individual social and medical needs of participants and their families. Daily programming includes companionship, individual and group activities, a noon meal, morning and afternoon snacks, health monitoring and support services.
Shuttle buses which access the downtown shopping area as well as the Ballardvale section of Andover are available to elders at no cost. Schedules are available at the senior center which is on both routes. EZRANS offers a minibus service which is available to elders and those with disabilities. Information regarding the application process, schedules as well as the volunteer medical transportation program may be obtained by contacting the center.
A strong core of volunteers makes it possible for us to provide many programs and services. Volunteer opportunities include "Friendly Visitors," Medical Transportation, the "dolls for dolls" program, computer classes, mentoring and pen pals with students, the Cultural Committee and many more.
Monthly programs on a variety of health topics are available, including health screenings and clinics, as well as classes in healthy cooking, aerobics, tai chi, line dancing, easy exercise and strength training. A certified massage therapist is available by appointment; hot paraffin hand treatments are also available at a reasonable rate. A drop in health clinic is held weekly at the center to provide blood pressure screening and counseling.
